Managing multiple fields at once is very difficult. Each field has different soil zones, drainage characteristics, elevation changes, and sometimes different crops, each with different water needs. They are spread across geography, and don't receive the same rain on every field or even within a field.
Add a soil moisture probe, too expensive to deploy more than one per field. Where is it placed? High ground or low ground? Which soil zone? And what does that single reading say about the rest of the field? Even if installed correctly (often by a farm hand or shop tech), it's still one data point on a variable landscape.
Factor in electricity pricing during peak demand, irrigation turn windows, permit-based water caps, and pivot position relative to the last irrigation cycle, whether the field was just watered or is about to be, and the decision becomes incalculable.
The only question that can be practically answered is to irrigate today, or wait until tomorrow? The rate and distribution across the field are left untouched, because the data to answer it differently doesn't exist.

Our platform brings together: satellite radar imagery, precision weather forecasts, soil type and terrain data. Advanced AI calculates moisture levels across your entire field, daily.
You see what's happening beneath the surface before your crops tell you there's a problem.
Industry-leading accuracy: ±5%. Our soil moisture data is ground-truthed, not modelled outputs dressed as measurements.
Aperture Soil Moisture serves anyone whose operations and decisions depend on knowing what's happening in the soil.
